I’m flying to London on Wednesday to begin a PhD at the University of East London’s SMARTlab Digital Media Institute/Magic Lab. My intent, over the next few years, is to combine wearable robotics with dance performance. If anyone is interested, here is a PDF outlining my plan - I don’t know if I’ll accomplish everything I’ve set out to do, but this is the general direction.

I’m not moving there - I’ll continue to live and work in Los Angeles, and visit 3 times a year or so for seminars. I’ll be celebrating my birthday there on the 23rd, and leaving a few days later.

I intend to graduate by December 2012, because that is the end of the world in the Mayan calendar - it would sure suck to be one meeting away from a doctorate and have some sort of eschatological jumping bean get in the way.
