Black widow
Published by stephan November 17th, 2004 in experiences, photosRight outside my ballet class, I found what I think was a real live genuine black widow spider. Wow! I’ve never seen one in real life before! The most venomous spider in North America, 15 times as toxic as a rattlesnake. I pointed it out to anyone who would listen coming out of the studio, including the teacher (who thought it was cool). I tried to take a good picture, but I was scared to get my hand that close with the phone. I figured out how to use the timer on the phone so I could just press the button and then hold it by the bottom and sneak it up close. Not great pix, but you can make out the distinctive hourglass.

I went into the Gold’s Gym next door and had someone get a maintenance guy to kill it. I’m all for live and let live, but this dude can kill. Of course, I certainly didn’t want to squish it myself.
